Join us for a family-oriented, fun event
for children
in
Historic Bedford Village, September 9, 2006!
The 90th anniversary of the Bedford Historical
Society marks BHS's first purchase, which was to buy
Historical Hall in 1916. The day will include a fun,
family day followed by a cocktail party in the
evening-- a little something for everyone!
Colonial-themed music will echo across the
historic Village Green in Bedford, New York, on
September 9, 2006 when the Bedford Historical
Society kicks off its Bedford Village Treasure Hunt,
designed to both educate and entertain kids of all
ages.
Several historic buildings and sites will be
decorated for easy identification, and each stop will
feature a Colonial garbed volunteer who will present
brief highlights of the building and its place in
Bedford's history.
Each child will receive a laminated map as an
easy guide on the Hunt, and, at each stop, they will
receive a 'treasure' relevant to the history or
architecture of the building.
"By making it challenging, fun and rewarding at
the same time, we know that both kids and their
parents will enjoy the Hunt and the chance to learn
more about this very special place," said Stacy
Albanese, chairperson of the event.
"In addition to the Colonial music, we will have
Colonial games, farm animals and maybe even a pony
ride. Plus, lunch will be available from local stores,"
she added.
