Mamapalooza Celebrates
"All Things Mom"

It's a music festival. It's an art exhibition. It's a fitness demo. It's a business expo. It's fun for moms and kids of all ages! It's "Mamapalooza Rocks the 'Burbs with Be Fit Westchester," a day-long festival by, for and about mothers of all ages and their families, THIS Saturday, May 20, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Admission and parking are FREE!

Mamapalooza features a concert on the main stage by ten 'mom bands' and a fitness festival with exercise demonstrations and workshops, along with women exhibitors who are craftspeople, artisans, poets and writers. A book fair featuring women authors, vendors by women-run businesses, and a host of entertainment for mothers of all ages and their families will all be part of the day's festivities.

Emcee for the concert stage will be Kacey Morabito from 100.7 WHUD Radio's Mike & Kacey morning show. Bands performing: Motherlode Trio; Housewives on Prozac; Kathleen Pemble; The Costellos; Francesca Beghe; Rani Arbo and daisy mayhem; Susan Kane; Galea; Warfield Suite; Mimi Ferocious; and the dance group, Momz 'n Da Hood.

A children's book fair featuring 10 mom authors from Dandytales for kids will be available to autograph copies of their works. Mother-run businesses will offer booths with children's clothing, jewelry, and musical instruments. Exhibits of sculpture and artwork created by women, along with an interactive mosaic workshop. Women entrepreneurs will be available to offer tips and advice on networking and starting your own business.

Healthy moms produce healthy families, and a fitness fair will offer fitness activities for all ages. Westchester County's Be Fit-mobile, will offer activities as part of Be Fit Westchester, a program dedicated to showing people of all ages how to have fun as they get and stay fit. The county's Health Department will also provide helpful information about healthy food and nutrition. There will be workshops throughout the day ranging from yoga and aerobics for moms to activities like gymnastics for kids.

Mamapalooza will also offer a host of entertainment and activities for kids throughout the event. Kids can learn some new skills during the Circus Arts Camp, bounce in a huge inflated jumping castle, or enjoy music and Mommy and Me gymnastics on the children's stage. Parents and babies can have fun competing in a Diaper Relay & Destination Maternity will present the latest in styles during fashion shows throughout the event.

There will be giveaways and free raffles throughout the event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Admission and parking are FREE. The event will be held rain or shine.

House Tour

DON'T MISS this May 19th Benefit Event which Showcases Six of the Area's Most Distinctive Homes.

With the winning combination of distinctive architecture and beautifully decorated interiors, the unique walking tour of homes will welcome hundreds of visitors to this turn-of-the-20th-century gem of a neighborhood in the heart of Mount Kisco, New York.

Six unique Colonial, Victorian and Tudor style homes will be available to tour from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Event proceeds benefit the Mount Kisco Elementary School Association, a non-profit organization that provides extra-curricular enrichment to the public school's 500 students.

Blythedale Children's Hospital

Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla has its annual Health Walk this Saturday, May 20th with a warm-up at 7:30 a.m. and start at 8:30 a.m. at White Plains High School. Adults and children of all ages can participate-- registration is ongoing including the day of the event. Children of all ages are encouraged to participate! The 2005 walk for The Blythedale Children's Hospital raised more than $30,000 for innovative clinical programs and support services to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate children with a variety of complex medical and rehabilitative needs. This is the largest rehabilitation children's hospital in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area with many programs serving the medical needs of children from baby through teens.

Riverkeeper's Shad Fest

Riverkeeper's 17th Annual Shad Festival, proudly marking Riverkeeper's 40th Anniversary, will be held on Sunday, May 21st, 2006, Boscobel Restoration in Garrison, NY.

The Annual Shad Festival and Hudson River Celebration is Riverkeeper's largest and most inclusive community outreach event, serving more than 1,800 adults and children from New York City, throughout the Hudson River Valley, and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

A FUN and exciting day-long program of activities, education, and entertainment aimed at raising awareness of the health of the Hudson River, its communities and the New York City drinking water supply; encouraging personal well-being through exercise, outdoor activities, and the consumption of organic and all-natural foods and products; and offering entertainment and creative activities for adults and children. Activities will include yoga for children, boat building, kayaking lessons, fly fishing, landscape photography, harnessed tree climbing, and a variety of environmentally themed arts and crafts. Musical guests include Black 47, Dar Williams and Acoustic Eclectic Roots & Blues w/Uncle Wade.
