Did you know that nationwide, the number of
women who are getting their annual mammograms is
going down? That's why during Breast Cancer
Awareness Month, starting Sunday, October 1, we
need your help more than ever. Help us save lives by
reminding every woman you know who is 40 or older
to get her mammogram this year.
Sign up or log in today and make a difference in
the lives of many-- be a part of the American Cancer
Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer!
Remember: Hope Starts Here...We are looking
forward to another amazing year! Last year in New
York State and New Jersey, over 182,000 walkers
participated, raising over $13.6 million in the fight
against breast cancer. Because of this tremendous
success, we are able to continue our local programs
of breast cancer education, patient services and
advocacy. And, of course, we continue to be the
largest nongovernmental supporter of breast cancer
research. We're ready to kick off another incredible
year and hope you'll join us. Whether it's your first
time or your tenth, we look forward to making strides
against breast cancer-- with you.
A loyal EssentialMom.com reader and an American
Cancer Society supporter has agreed to host
an "EssentialMom.com team" at the Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer walk this year and we hope
you will consider joining other moms and families
along with her in an effort to promote awareness.

Mammograms can often detect breast cancer
years
before a woman can find a lump herself-- and when
the disease is caught at an early, localized stage,
the 5-year survival rate is 97%. Yearly mammograms
for women age 40 and older are one part of the
updated ACS Guidelines for Early
Detection of Breast Cancer. You can read these
guidelines by clicking here.
Send a reminder email to a friend to get her
mammogram too! Click here.
