Father's Day
O.K. ladies, it's our turn to honor the other half
of the parenting team. As I have not quite
found the perfect gift yet, (yes, Father's Day is next
weekend) I figured that some of you
might be in the same boat and would appreciate the
following sites I found-- some fun ideas for gifts, crafts
to do with the kids, and even local places to send
Dad to be 'pampered' in that special Dad kind of
way.
For a personal touch, try www.fotoart.com,
a great site for personalized key chains, magnets,
games, picture frames, and other items to remind Dad
of his favorite little cherubs while he is at work or
traveling. They turn your own pictures into useful and
fun items for Dad.
For some more upscale gifts, try www.netique.com.
They offer nice desk and office items, wine
accessories, guy stuff, etc. or
www.redenvelope.com for cuff links, key chains,
and the like.
Now, we all know it is impossible to let such
a holiday pass without a homemade creation for the
lucky parent. I did find a site with some clever crafts
that were somewhat different for a change though.
For crafts and such visit
www.kidsdomain.com
Last, but not least, something for Dad to
do...send
him out for a round of golf, fishing, biking, or maybe a
few beers with the boys.
For the golfer, a list
of
public golf courses:
Hudson Valley Magazine Golf Pages.
For the fisherman, try a charter boat cruise with C
& C Charters in Tarrytown, NY, C&C Charters. If fly-fishing is
more his speed, a visit to The Bedford Sportsman in
Bedford Hills is usually popular. Visit
www.BedfordSportsman.com for more information,
or just walk
into the store. Charles is a great guy and always helps
me out with ideas when I'm lost!
For husbands with a hankering for a new hobby,
there are all sorts of clubs around Westchester that
might spark his interest. For biking, visit www.wmba.org, for
the Westchester Sports Car Club, visit www.wscc.org, and
for scuba diving,
www.beneaththesea.org/TSSC.
If all else fails, take him out, either with the family
or send him with his friends. For great beers and
burgers, try
the Blazer Pub in Purdy's, 914.277.4424. Also great is
The Sports
Page in White Plains, 914.761.6697, a great spot for
brunch with dad if you are taking the kids-- they even
have a kiddie play area!
